"They're beautiful animals. They're not dumb. They're smart, very smart, and aware of everything that goes on around them. … Away from the track, thoroughbreds make great horses for people who want to do things right."
-Rodney Jenkins
Thoroughbred Alliance Eligibility / Standings
New for 2015 - Please Note:
-We are now offering a leadline year end award for riders 10 & under. In order to be eligible, these riders may NOT enter any classes other than leadline (or costume, if offered.)
-The year end NJ Bred award is no longer offered.
-The two show eligibility rule has been removed. Horses and riders no longer have to compete in two or more shows in order to be considered for year end awards.
-A copy of the horse's complete race record MUST be submitted with each horse nomination form. This is available for free download on Equibase.com. Email [email protected] for assistance.
-As in past years, unraced horses are eligible to show in TASS shows as long as they have TIP cards. Some shows offer non TIP classes, check each prizelist. Unraced horses are NOT eligible for the Year End Green Horse Award- that award is for horses that last raced in 2014 or 2015.
-It is each rider's responsibility to report ANY change of horse or rider to the show secretary on the day of the show. If this is not done, ALL points, ribbons, and prizes awarded at that show will be forfeited.
-Once a horse has exhibited in a class with fence heights 3' or higher, they are no longer eligible to show in any class with fence heights lower than 2'6", UNLESS an application for exception (new rider, injury, etc.) is made to TASS in writing at least 7 days prior to the show. The TASS Committee will rule on the application and the decision of the committee will be FINAL. If this is not done, ALL points, ribbons, and prizes awarded at that show will be forfeited.
**Forms are now fillable thanks to our TASS rider Jen Preston**

Please download and print out the nomination forms
and submit them as specified on the bottom of the forms.
HORSES AND RIDERS MUST BE NOMINATED BY EMAIL OR MAIL PRIOR TO
THE FIRST SHOW IN WHICH THEY ARE ENTERED.
New nomination forms must be completed and submitted every year.
Horses must be shown under their registered Jockey Club name. While each member show may have different requirements as far as entering non-tattoed thoroughbreds, in order to be eligible for TASS Year End Awards, horses must be tattooed or have proof of registry according to TIP guidelines (click here.)
In order to be eligible for year end awards, horses must compete in two or more member shows, and must be nominated by mail or email prior to the first show in which they are entered. Points will NOT be awarded retroactively! Year end award eligibility is the responsibility of the person nominating each horse, and will be verified. Horses only need to be nominated once to accumulate series points, and can be ridden by different riders throughout the shows.
Riders can accumulate points on multiple horses, but must separately declare their eligibility for year end rider awards. In accordance with USEF rules, the rider's age on December 1, 2014 will be used when determining eligibility for 2015 high score awards. Riders born on December 1st will assume the greater age on that date. Nominations must be made prior to the first show in which they are entered. Points will NOT be awarded retroactively!
Each member show will run their own formats and prize lists, and the secretary at each show will submit points for nominated horses and riders at the conclusion of the show.
Again, nomination is free but must be submitted by mail or email prior to the first show entered, and points are not awarded retroactively. Eligibility will be verified.

In addition, a roving judge will select a winner for the Richard Bennett Memorial Sportsmanship Award. Richard, longtime farm manager of Woodstock Farm, Chesapeake City, MD, passed away in early 2013. Richard was a lifelong horseman whose kindness, dedication, and sense of humor were only matched by his innate horsemanship and love of the thoroughbred. He had family and dear friends on both sides of the Atlantic. He never raised his voice at an animal, and wherever he went, horses and dogs were drawn to him. Richard was an incredible yet humble gentleman who touched the lives of so many......
